Montclair Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday Oct. 31st for the third day in a row. Local reports indicate that approximately 80% of Montclair is without power and PSE&G is not expected to start making repairs until Friday.
A drive around Upper Montclair tonight revealed that Watchung Plaza is deserted and pitch black. Mr. Dino’s Pizzeria is the only business open there, providing a little light in the otherwise desolate street. At Montclair High, no lights were on in the Freshman Building. Lights were visible in Larjara Gallery and the Midland Ave.-side of the Main Building.
Several intersections around town do not have working traffic lights but overall streets are clear of debris. Many yards are filled with downed trees and branches and utility wires are hanging in various spots.
Halloween has also been postponed by the town for the second year in a row.
